Resurecting an old computer

 Posted by Picasa
A few days ago I took from trash an old pc (Pentium III, 366 Mhz, 12 gb on the two hard drives, 128 mb of ram). I have managed to clean the drives and make it work with Windows 2000, an antivirus, firewall and some utilities. A friend of mine who didn't have a computer can make good use of it to browse the internet, write papers, listen to some music or watch movies. I really enjoyed this work. I guess all the old computers that are still functional could be still made useful. In the worst case we can install Vector Linux or something simillar in these machines and give them away to poor people around the world. With very few expenses we can start a crussade against the worst inequality in this world: the access to knowledge. Everyone should have a chance to learn, to know, to understand and to decide. Ignorant people are the easiest manipulated and fooled to make the games of the rich and the greedy. And for this reason all the governments keep the people from reaching a high level of understanding. Because if they did, there won't be so many wars, there won't be so many crimes, there won't be so many sick, there won't be so many poor. And also, it will not be possible anymore for 1-2% of the population to posses more than 95% of everything on this Earth.
